Barry Kitson signs exclusive DC contract.
DC has announced that artist Barry Kitson has signed a three-year exclusive with the publisher. First up for the artist under the deal – a JSA miniseries written by Kevin Anderson tentatively titled Lord Dynamo.

In a release from DC, Kitson said:

"I'm exceptionally happy to be part of DC's plans for the next three years and flattered that they should display such confidence in me," says Kitson. "DC has always been a great company to work for, but I don't think I can remember a time when there was such an air of enthusiasm and anticipation about the future, so I am particularly honored and excited to be part of what's happening.

“I'd also like to say thank you to DC for their support for Empire. Without their faith in the project I don't think Mark [Waid] and I could ever have completed the first arc. For the immediate future I'm concentrating on a major JSA miniseries written by Kevin Anderson which will give me the opportunity to draw all the original JSAers for the first time and allow me to work again with Senior Editor Peter Tomasi."

"Barry Kitson is a longtime member of the DC family and we are extremely happy that he will working with us exclusively for the next three years," says Dan DiDio, DC's VP Editorial. "Barry's style is synonymous with quality and there is no better place for him to be applying his craft than here."

Kitson’s final non-DC work will be the six-issue Avengers vs. Thunderbolts miniseries, written by Kurt Busiek and Fabian Nicieza, beginning in March.

DC also announced that a trade edition, collecting Empire #0-#6 will be solicited in the near future.
